Jumbo Time Wines - First Timers

We wanted to make a light, refreshing wine that was a mix of red and white grapes, inspired by some of the bright and energetic, high altitude reds we’ve grown to love drinking at any hour of the day. 'First Timers' consists of Chardonnay and old vine Carignan, both of which were dry-farmed and grown organically.

We treated the Carignan in two ways: directly pressed the same day it was picked without any skin contact to make a light, crunchy rosé, and then with a five day maceration on the skins, to create super ruby-colored red juice. These blends got to know one another in barrel along with whole cluster, carbonically-macerated Grenache.

Jumbo Time Wines is a California based wine project started by friends in 2020. We work alongside farmers and vintners to make wines that are the product of curiosity and excitement. As people who like to eat (and definitely like to drink!) we wanted to make something representative of our love for gathering around a table (or grill, or pool) with friends. We want to highlight all the hands involved along the way.

Watermelon rind and just under-ripe strawberry. It’s like Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice and maybe even some Wild Raspberry Sour Straws on the finish, with a refreshing wave of agility and enough fruit to let you know what to look forward to next season.
