About the Winemaker:
Cantina Alpina was born out of a shared passion for unusual and complex pink wines. In Peter Pastan's (owner of 2Amys) case, the exemplaire was Valentini's iconic and long-lived Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo. In Nicolas Mestre’s (owner of Williams Corner Wine Importers), it was Salvo Foti's high altitude Etna wine, Vinudilice.
They decided that they wanted to create our own interpretation of these complex, boundary pushing wines. Their search for an appropriate place to make a qualitative and unique rosato took them to the Dolomites and the estate of Elisabetta Foradori. There, with Emilio Foradori's expertise, they set out to craft an homage to Peter and I's respective role models.
Together they blended a trio of Trentino grape varieties in equal parts, Teroldego, Manzoni Bianco, and Pinot Grigio vinified in a combination of stainless steel, amphorae (from both Tuscany and Spain), and barrel to create the 2018 Pale Mountain Rosato.
The Dolomites are often referred to as the Monti Pallidi, or Pale Mountains. Hence the name of this bottling. They produced a total of 50 cases.
